CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL / LIVE EARTH

Conservation International (CI) is committed to changing behavior and creating a movement that will help protect the Earth’s plant and animal diversity. With an established presence in over 40 countries on four continents, CI is leveraged to apply and develop new innovations in science, politics, and community participation in order to protect biodiversity hotspots around the globe. One key communication vehicle that not only helps CI spread awareness of its mission, but also provides an opportunity to change behavior, is its website—www.conservation.org.

Atmosphere was tasked to develop a website that not only shows the importance of protecting and restoring the natural world, but also celebrates the various ways CI is making significant in-roads in protecting and restoring the Earth for generations to come. In an effort to set CI apart from the standard NGO site, we developed a look and feel based on strong visual cues such as beautiful imagery. The goal was to create a communal platform that allows users to engage and participate in featured programs, such as fundraising, creating awareness, increasing volunteerism, etc. The site also features ways for users to interact with CI in a relevant and influential manner thus creating an “emotional memory”. For example, the carbon calculator allows users to calculate and offset their impact on the environment.
