Conservation International is a global organization that employs science, policy and fieldwork to empower societies to “responsibly and sustainably care for nature for the well-being of humanity.” In 2007, CI turned to Atmosphere to expand its involvement in the digital space in order to help spread awareness of its mission and supply actionable tools to drive deeper participation in the ecology movement.

Our initial engagement on behalf of the brand was the most critical: a strategic redesign of the CI global website. With the relaunch scheduled to coincide with the 7-continent, 24-hour Live Earth concerts streamed on Microsoft’s MSN network on 7/7/07, we designed the

experience to be simple, dramatic and directive. (Continuing the coincidental starring role the number 7 seemed to play in the effort, we were happy to see a 77% increase in visitors to Conservation.org on the day of the MSN event.)

Keeping the same intuitive UX design and creative approach, we worked with CI post-event to evolve the site to encompass a more robust, content-driven experience that utilizes an expanding series of unique tools to engage users, including the Carbon Calculator, Eco-Footprint Survey and award-winning Protect An Acre application.
